Local Prevention Councils (LPCs)

Established in 1988 as the Governor’s Initiative, the Local Community Prevention Council (LPC) was created to enhance and facilitate local involvement in the development and implementation of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention activities. The Local Prevention Council is appointed by the highest elected official of each Connecticut Municipality. VSAAC provides technical assistance and support to the LPCs helping them broaden their scope of services.
